Israel police and the Shin Bet said they have foiled a plot to assassinate high-ranking Israeli officials, including Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Bibi Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. In a news release, Israel police said Moti Maman, the 73-year-old Israeli suspect was able to smuggle himself into Iran at least twice to meet with Iranian intelligence, working with them in an attempt to assassinate Netanyahu and others. Maman was reportedly paid by Iran to carry out missions for the country. The announcement came days after it was revealed that the Hezbollah terror group plotted to assassinate former high-ranking officials within Israel. Hezbollah has blamed Israel for two days of deadly explosions, including the pagers, walkie-talkies and solar panels of terror group members exploding, killing at least 20 people and wounding more than 3,000 others. Israel has not taken responsibility for the attack. The war in Gaza is nearing one year following the Oct. 7 attack by the Hamas terror group on Israel, killing 1200 people. More than 100 hostages taken during the attack remain in captivity with ceasefire discussions and negotiations continuing.
