The WHO has warned that climate change-induced flooding is causing a rise in snake bites, which kill tens of thousands of people annually. Sub-Saharan Africa reports around 314,000 snake bite cases per year, with 15,000 deaths, but faces a critical shortage of treatments. The WHO is increasing the availability of antivenoms in the most affected regions.
