19-year-old Luvo Ngqaza, accused of assaulting his 82-year-old grandmother, appeared briefly in in the Kuils River Magistrate's Court earlier today. He faces charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and contraventions of the Older Persons Act. The incident was caught on camera and spread widely on social media. The matter has been postponed to 28 November and marked as final for further investigation. Ngqaza is out on warning. The court accommodated his matric exam schedule and adjusted the initial postponement date. The grandmother testified about the incident in court in July.
