The Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says it will soon declare the Mpox outbreak a public health emergency. The agency's director says he's alarmed by infection rates that have risen b60 % on the continent in the past year. The number of suspected Mpox cases this year has risen to over 15-thousand on the continent, with more than 500 deaths. Mpox is transmitted through close contact and causes flu-like symptoms and pus-filled lesions.
