Italy Aims to Get More Tax Out of Its Most Profitable Companies

Italy's Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said companies that have benefited the most from particularly favorable economic conditions of recent years will be asked to contribute to the country's debt reduction efforts. Speaking to Bloomberg News, Giorgetti said he is look at new levies that would apply to companies in a number of different industries. This is "an effort that the whole country must undertake," he told Bloomberg's Chiara Albanese. Italy plans to reduce its budget deficit to below 3% of economic output by 2026.
