Mother's death was "avoidable" and "contributed to by neglect"

A coroner's report has found that the death of a mother-of-five who died two days after childbirth was "avoidable" and "contributed to by neglect". Laura-Jane Seaman, 36, begged staff at Broomfield Hospital in Essex not to let her die after she suffered an internal bleed and was known to be at high risk of post-partum haemorrhage. A spokesperson from the hospital trust extended their "sincerest sympathies and condolences to the family of Laura-Jane". They added their focus since has "been on improving training to prevent this from happening again".
