One of the suspects in the ambush murder of a Florida deputy answered his cell phone when his wife called to ask when he would be home, stating “so you say that you are supposedly the dead man’s wife,” Lake County Sheriff Peyton Grinnell said during a celebration of life for Master Deputy Bradley Link. Link was fatally shot on Aug. 2 while responding to a call for service in Eustis, Florida. During a service Saturday that honored the life of the 28-year-old, Sheriff Grinnell told the full story of what happened to his fallen deputy, including the call to Link’s phone. Two other deputies were wounded while trying to rescue Link from the home where he was shot.
