The 1956 Women's March to the Union Buildings is being remembered as a pivotal moment in South Africa. About 20, 000 women took part in that demonstration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. They were pushing back against the Apartheid government's pass laws. The historic march marked a turning point in the women's struggle to affirm their rights.
