As the country marks women's month and 30 years of democracy, sex workers still face challenges including violent clients, police harassment and stigma. Over the years, there have been many calls for sex work to be decriminalised to afford sex workers better protection. In November 2022, Cabinet approved the publishing of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Bill for public comment, but the bill has since been delayed.
