The Africa United Youth Orchestra has just wrapped up a week-long visit to New York City where they participated in World Orchestra Week, culminating in a stage performance at the famed Carnegie Hall. Additionally, the African ensemble - AUYO - also participated in a massive play-in event that saw hundreds of festival participants from 7 youth orchestras perform a collaboration under the baton of one of the world's most celebrated conductors. Founded under the auspices of the Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra, AUYO arrived in the United States with only one public performance under their belt, only to wow audiences with music rooted in Africa's diversity and described as a remarkable moment for African classical music on the global stage.
