Two bridges over Interstate 270, the beltway that surrounds Columbus, will close or face lane restrictions into the winter as ODOT crews begin construction on them in August, according to ODOT's weekly construction update.

The McComb Road bridge over I-270 in Grove City will close for 90 days starting on August 22 for bridge rehabilitation. Home Road to Gantz Road to Breeze Hill Drive to McZand Boulevard is the detour for this closure.

Up north, the Hamilton Road bridge over I-270 in Gahanna will also have "various" daily lane restrictions starting August 26 through winter 2024, according to ODOT.

Northbound traffic will shift to the bridge's southbound lanes during this time.

Additionally, The Hamilton Road ramp to I-270 northbound will close August 26 through the winter. The detour for this ramp closure is Hamilton Road to Broad Street to I-270 for northbound motorists and Hamilton Road to Granville Street to U.S. Route 62 to I-270 for southbound motorists.

The McComb Road bridge will be upgraded with a new guardrail, a new wider bridge deck that can accommodate a sidewalk or path, new vandal fencing and a slope regrade, according to the project website.

The Hamilton Road bridge improvements are part of ODOT's Far East Freeway project, which aims to improve the Interstate 70 corridor from Franklin County to Fairfield and Licking County.
