KwaZulu-Natal has experienced some unusual weather patterns, including the 2022 devastating floods that killed more than 400 people and cost the province over R40-billion, a tornado that dismantled communities in uThongathi and the recent heavy snowfall. To mitigate and respond to these weather challenges, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli yesterday announced a multi-sectoral approach, including the establishment of the KwaZulu-Natal Climate Change and Sustainability Council and acquiring weather predictive technology. To talk more about the significance of this announcement, we are joined in the studio by Dr Nomhle Ngwenya, an independent climate change researcher and member of the National Advisory Council on Innovation South Africa.
