JSC | Judge Susannah Cowen recommended for Dep. Judge President

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has resolved to recommend Judge Susannah Cowen for appointment as the Deputy Judge President of the Land Court. Judge Cowen was the first of a total of three candidates to be interviewed by the commission. The Judge of the Gauteng High Court, seconded to the Land Court currently acts as the Deputy Judge President of the Land Claims Court, and she will act as such until the end October 2024. The Land Court - which replaces the Land Claims Court - is tasked with, among other things, issues concerning land rights, restitution and claims. Following deliberations, the JSC was convinced that Judge Cowen was the most suitable and qualified candidate for the post.
