The Northern Cape continues to benefit on the science front with its clear skies and large unpopulated areas. Two huge astro projects have been allocated to the province. The Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) continues to amaze with the discoveries of black holes and polar stars; and the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) - with four years to completion - have already produced images of the dark reaches of space that continue to excite scientists. SABC News senior reporter Ulrich Hendriks and video journalist Lereko Motseko went to find out if the SKA has changed lives in the small Karoo town, Carnarvon, where it is hosted.
