More than 300K still without power in Ohio after storm slams greater Cleveland

Nearly 300,000 homes and businesses in northeast Ohio remained without power on Wednesday morning after severe weather, including potential tornados, slammed the region and downed power lines.

Widespread outages were affecting 334,000 customers as of 10:15 a.m. ET.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland reported mid-Wednesday morning it was sending out teams to survey "extensive damage from yesterday's storm."

Forecasters with the NWS were also asking people to report any damage or flooding.

Late Tuesday afternoon, the NWS issued tornado warnings for the area of Masury, Brookfield and Yankee Lake. Earlier in the day, the storm system prompted tornado warnings in locations around Cleveland, including Parma, Euclid and Shaker Heights.

Wednesday's weather forecast for the region called for mostly cloudy skies expected with a peaks of sunshine possible.

Temperatures, the NWS reported, will be slightly cooler with highs reaching into the mid to upper 70s.
