There will be a high risk of fires and sweltering conditions causing heatwaves in several regions, according to the South African Weather Service, but it will be mostly fine and warm in the rest of the country. 

Impact-based warnings

A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for damaging wind and waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea between Alexander Bay and Plettenberg Bay.

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the eastern and central parts of the Northern Cape, Sarah Baartman, Chris Hani, the Alfred Nzo and Amathole district municipalitities, and Elundini Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape, as well as Mkhondo Local Municipality in Mpumalanga.

A heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected in parts of the Alfred Nzo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape.

Fine and warm temperatures are expected in Gauteng and the North West.

Windy conditions are forecast over the southern parts of the Free State, otherwise it will be fine and cool to warm.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-westerly.

Partly cloudy conditions are forecast in the Western Cape where it will be cool to warm in the east.

Otherwise, it will be cloudy, cold to cool and windy, with rain and showers setting in from late afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be a fresh to strong north-westerly to westerly, reaching gale force in the south-west and moderating in the evening.

The expected UVB sunburn index is low.

The Eastern Cape will be fine, windy and warm, but cool in places in the north.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-westerly.

The wind along the east coast will be a light north-westerly, becoming moderate north-easterly in the afternoon.

Morning fog is expected over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal, otherwise it will be fine and cool to warm.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-easterly.
