Residents warned officials about retention dams bursting its banks in Riverland, Cape Town

Rescuers have safely retrieved two children who were swept away this morning following a dam wall collapse at Malmesbury in the Swartland. Authorities are also concerned about the possibility of a third dam collapse after two retention dams above Riverlands Dam collapsed in the early hours of this morning. Provincial Minister of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell says the third dam might not be able to hold enormous amounts of water because of an existing leak.
