Reuters exclusively reported that while many nations are stepping up efforts to seize assets from Russian oligarchs, authorities in Maldives are taking a cautious approach to enforcing sanctions. Maldives voted to condemn Russia’s invasion at the United Nations and publicly maintains it will assist international efforts against sanctioned Russians. But in reality, officials say they are concerned about the economic impact of deterring wealthy Russian visitors.
