Heritage Month | Looking into the heritage site of the origin of modern human behaviour in SA

2 hours ago 40

With South Africa celebrating Heritage Month, we take a look at the Pinnacle Point Caves at Mossel Bay in the Western Cape. It's an important site for understanding not only our heritage but also that of humanity as a whole. The caves show evidence of modern human behaviour, dating back more than 160 thousand years. The discoveries were made by an international team, headed by paleoanthropologist, Professor Curtis Marean, from the Institute of Human Origins of Arizona State University, as well as researchers from South Africa, Australia, Israel and France. The site recently received UNESCO World Heritage Status in the category "The Emergence of Modern Human Behaviour". For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
