The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pemmy Majodina, has launched a multi-million rand James Kleynhans Water Treatment Project, which seeks to address the persistent water crisis in Makhanda and surrounding areas in the Eastern Cape. Makhanda has had two water plants that lacked capacity to provide water to the growing population of the City, affecting not only communities, but businesses as well. Majodina says such projects are vital for the development of businesses and local farmers in the area. The government has budgeted R393 million rand for three phases of the water project, with R235 million already utilized. Zolani Moya reports...
